What is Seedance 2.0?

Seedance 2.0 is a video model from ByteDance and the earlier generation of the Seedance family. Cinemagiq runs four versions: Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.0 Fast, which animate a starting image, and Seedance 2.0 References and Seedance 2.0 Fast References, which build the shot from reference material instead. The Fast versions answer with lower latency and cost, which suits drafts and quick iteration.

Seedance 2.0 and Seedance 2.0 Fast need a first frame, and you can add a last frame to set where the shot ends. The References versions skip frames and take up to 9 images, 3 videos and 3 audio clips. Clips run 4 to 15 seconds. Seedance 2.0 renders at 480p, 720p or 1080p, while the Fast versions stop at 720p. Sound is optional, and ratios range from 21:9 to 9:16 or adaptive.

Use Seedance 2.0 when the look is already locked in a still and you want it to move: make the frame in the Image tab, then animate it here. One prompt can hold several shots under Shot 1 and Shot 2 headings. Draft with Seedance 2.0 Fast, then rerun the keeper at 1080p on Seedance 2.0. For prompt-only shots or clips longer than 15 seconds, move up to Seedance 2.5.

    Prompt tips for Seedance 2.0

    • Describe the motion and camera, not the picture. The fox example on this page only says what moves: the walk, the swaying lantern, the camera tracking backward.
    • For several shots, write Shot 1, Shot 2 headings in order. Do not write times or second ranges with Seedance 2.0.
    • Add a last frame when the shot must land on a specific pose or framing, such as a character arriving at a door.
    • End the prompt with what we should hear, such as crunching snow or a steam whistle, and keep sound switched on.
